Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has officially rolled out its latest affordable smartphone, the Redmi 15 5G, in India. What makes this phone stand out is its huge 7,000mAh EV-grade silicon carbon battery — the first in its price segment to feature a silicon carbon cell. Despite carrying such a large battery, Redmi has managed to keep the device relatively slim, giving it a good balance of design and durability. Priced under Rs 15,000, it’s aiming to set new benchmarks in the budget 5G category.

Redmi 15 5G Specifications
The phone embraces its big size with a 6.9-inch LCD display, offering Full-HD+ resolution (1080 x 2340 pixels), up to 288Hz touch sampling rate, 850 nits peak brightness, and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate.
Despite its large frame, it is just 8.4mm thick. At around 217 grams, though, it does feel slightly heavy during prolonged use.
The Redmi 15 5G runs on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage.
On the software side, it comes with HyperOS 2.0 built on Android 15. Redmi is also promising 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches, which is solid for a budget device. To make things smarter, it supports AI features like Google Gemini and Circle to Search.
The showstopper is clearly the 7,000mAh silicon carbon battery. It supports 33W fast wired charging and 18W reverse wired charging, making it ideal not just for long usage but also to share power with other devices when needed.
At the back, the Redmi 15 5G comes with a 50MP primary camera alongside an auxiliary lens, wrapped in a stylish metal camera deco. For selfies and video calls, there’s an 8MP front camera. Both front and rear shooters support video recording at 1080p 30fps.
Other notable additions include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, IR blaster, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band Wi-Fi, and a USB Type-C port. The phone also comes with an IP64 rating, giving it protection against dust and splashes.
