Realme Neo 8 Arrives with a Mammoth 8,000mAh Battery
Realme has just launched the Neo 8 in China, and it is turning heads for one massive reason: the battery life. In a market where most flagship phones top out at 5,000mAh, Realme has somehow squeezed an 8,000mAh cell into this new handset.
Remarkably, the phone doesn’t look like a brick. It stays relatively slim at just 8.3mm thick, suggesting a major leap in how dense these new batteries are.
Power Meets Performance
It’s not just about longevity. The Neo 8 is running on the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which is high-end silicon designed for serious gaming and multitasking. To keep things moving fast, it pairs that processor with up to 16GB of RAM and a massive 1TB of storage.
When you do finally run out of juice, the phone supports 80W fast charging. It also includes a “bypass charging” mode, a feature gamers appreciate because it powers the phone directly from the cable without charging the battery, keeping the device cool during long sessions.
Display and Durability
The screen is built for speed. It’s a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel that can push a refresh rate of 165Hz—faster than the 120Hz screens you see on most iPhones or Galaxys. Realme says the display, made with Samsung materials, can hit a peak brightness of 3,800 nits, making it easily readable outdoors.
The build quality is overkill in the best way. The phone is rated IP66, IP68, and IP69. In plain English, this means it is dust-tight, can survive being dunked in water, and can withstand high-pressure water jets.
The Camera Setup
On the back, you get a triple-camera system. The main shooter is a 50-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) to keep shots steady. There is also a 50-megapixel telephoto lens for zooming in without losing quality, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera for capturing landscapes.
Market Impact & Context
Realme is aggressively targeting power users here. By offering 8,000mAh capacity, they are solving the biggest complaint people have with modern smartphones: battery anxiety. Combining that with a top-tier Snapdragon chip at a mid-range price point puts serious pressure on competitors like Redmi and iQOO to step up their game.
Pricing
The Realme Neo 8 is available now in China. It starts at CNY 2,399 (around Rs. 33,000) for the 12GB RAM model. If you want the top-tier version with 1TB of storage, the price goes up to CNY 3,699 (around Rs. 48,000). There is no confirmed date for a global or India launch yet.
