Realme has started teasing the launch of its upcoming Realme 16 Pro series with the message “coming soon.” After previously hinting at the phone’s Master design, the company has now officially revealed a major new imaging feature called LumaColor IMAGE, which will debut globally with the series.
Collaboration with TUV Rheinland
Realme developed this new imaging technology in partnership with TUV Rheinland. The company says the goal is to push portrait photography to the next level while keeping advanced mobile imaging accessible for young users around the world.
What LumaColor IMAGE Brings
According to Realme, LumaColor IMAGE will help the Realme 16 Pro series offer a “best-in-segment portrait experience.” The technology aims to deliver portraits that look natural, emotional, and visually rich, with accurate skin tones, realistic lighting, and an atmospheric feel.
Realme describes LumaColor IMAGE as an industry-first system for handling light and color together. Traditional processing often separates these elements, which can cause issues like washed-out highlights or unnatural colors. LumaColor IMAGE instead synchronizes light and color to create a more cohesive look between the subject and the background, improving shadows, highlights, and overall depth.
The system also includes advanced skin tone correction and optical depth-of-field fusion blur. These enhancements make the subject stand out more naturally while adding texture and depth through improved light and shadow rendering.
Launch Timeline and What’s Next
Realme has not yet shared full details about the camera hardware. However, the company is promoting the Realme 16 Pro series as the “Master of Portraits,” claiming strong performance across all zoom levels.
Industry leaks suggest the Realme 16 Pro series will launch in early January 2026. More official details are expected soon.
