Reports and industry leaks suggest that Poco is preparing to launch a new flagship device, the Poco F8 Ultra. This upcoming smartphone is anticipated to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the Poco F7 Ultra. While an official announcement has not yet been made, it is expected that the device will see a global release, including a launch in India. The release strategy may follow previous patterns, with the phone potentially debuting in China first as the Redmi K90 Pro before becoming available in other markets.

Upgraded Processing Power

According to information from industry sources, the Poco F8 Ultra is rumored to be equipped with Qualcomm’s recently announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This chipset, unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit 2025 in September, would position the F8 Ultra among top-tier flagship models. The Gen 5 processor reportedly offers a 20% increase in CPU frequency, 23% better graphics performance, and 37% higher AI optimization compared to the previous generation, promising enhanced multitasking and gaming capabilities.

Battery and Charging Capabilities

One of the most notable rumored upgrades is a 7,000mAh battery, a substantial increase from the 5,300mAh cell found in the Poco F7 Ultra. This larger capacity is expected to provide significantly longer usage between charges. To complement the large battery, leaks also indicate support for 100W wired fast charging as well as wireless charging, a combination designed to minimize downtime for users.

Display and Imaging Systems

The device is expected to feature a flat LTPO AMOLED display with either a 1.5K or 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals and efficient power consumption. In terms of photography, reports point to a versatile 50MP triple rear camera system, comprising a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. The front camera is also slated for an upgrade to 50MP, a notable increase from the 32MP sensor on the F7 Ultra.

Additional Features and Durability

Other rumored enhancements include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for faster and more secure unlocking, along with improved audio speakers and haptic feedback. For durability, the device is tipped to have an IP69 certification, which would signify the highest level of protection against dust and water ingress, indicating a premium and robust build quality. The collective improvements suggest the Poco F8 Ultra is being developed to compete directly with other high-end, value-oriented flagship smartphones.
