UK-based tech brand Nothing is getting ready to unveil a special community-created version of its latest smartphone. After months of inviting users to help design the product, the company has shared a new teaser hinting that the Nothing Phone 3a Community Edition is coming soon. This project continues the brand’s growing effort to involve fans directly in shaping its devices.
New Teaser and Community Contributors
On November 25, Nothing posted a new image on its community page showing a shiny Pokémon Arcanine. This is significant because the brand previously used Arcanine imagery for the original Phone 3a launch. The shiny version in the new teaser is seen as a nod to the “special” nature of the upcoming edition.
The teaser also includes the names of the winners of the Community Edition Project 2025:
Emre, Louis, Ambrogio, Jad, and Sushruta.
Each of these contributors played a key role in different areas, such as hardware and accessory design, custom wallpapers, and marketing assets. This project began back in March with an open call for community participation.
A Look Back and What to Expect
This isn’t Nothing’s first collaborative device. The company previously launched the Nothing Phone 2a Plus Community Edition, which marked the beginning of its co-creation strategy.
For the new model, while the design and creative elements will be community-driven, the internal hardware is expected to be the same as the standard Phone 3a.
The original Nothing Phone 3a, released in India in March 2025, includes:
• Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor
• 8GB RAM + 128GB storage (base model)
• Up to 12GB RAM + 256GB storage
• 6.7 inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate
• Dual 50MP main + telephoto cameras and 8MP ultrawide
• 32MP front-facing camera
• 5,000mAh battery with 50W fast charging
Because the Community Edition focuses on design, these specs are likely to remain unchanged.
