Nothing has officially launched the Phone 3a Community Edition in India, a special version of the standard Phone 3a released earlier this March. What makes this edition unique is that it was co-created with fans over six months, with more than 700 members of the Nothing Community contributing ideas for the design, hardware concepts, and software experience.

Price and Limited Availability

The Nothing Phone 3a Community Edition is priced at Rs. 28,999 in India for its single variant, which comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. This edition is extremely limited—only 1,000 units will be produced worldwide.

Indian buyers will be able to get their hands on the phone at an exclusive drop event in Bengaluru on December 13.

What Makes the Community Edition Special?

Although the internal hardware is the same as the regular Nothing Phone 3a, the Community Edition gets a completely refreshed look and user interface designed by the community.

Nothing ran the Community Edition Project in four stages, each focused on a different part of the phone’s identity.

1. Hardware Design

The winning design came from community member Emre Kayganacl. His concept features a phosphorescent finish inspired by see-through gadgets from the late ’90s and early 2000s. This retro-tech glow gives the phone a distinct look not found on the standard model.

2. Accessory & Packaging Design

For the new accessory design stage, Ambrogio Tacconi and Louis Aymond were selected. Their idea included refreshed packaging and a playful Dice accessory, with each side showing numbers in Nothing’s signature Ndot 55 font.

3. Software & UI

On the software side, community member Jad Zock worked with Nothing’s London software team to create a new minimalist lock screen clock and a fresh wallpaper. The wallpaper comes in four colour options—two blues and two purples—and is designed to keep the screen clean and clutter-free, perfectly matching the NothingOS aesthetic.

4. Marketing

To wrap up the project, Sushruta Sarkar was chosen to lead the Made Together marketing campaign, completing the full community-driven journey from concept to launch.
