After years of anticipation, Maruti Suzuki India Limited is finally entering the electric vehicle market with its very first EV — the e-Vitara. This all-electric SUV is set to launch on September 3 and was recently showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It’s one of the most talked-about EVs in the country right now and will take on rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and MG ZS EV.
Stylish Exterior with Futuristic Design
The e-Vitara brings a fresh new look to Maruti’s lineup. At the front, you’ll notice a sharp, three-point matrix LED daytime running light built right into the headlamps. It also gets eye-catching piano black accents in the center of the headlight assembly. Flip to the back, and you’ll find sleek LED taillights and Nexa branding on the rear windshield.
Other design elements like bold C pillars and stylish 18-inch alloy wheels give the SUV a strong and modern road presence.
Premium Interiors and Tech-Packed Cabin
Step inside the e-Vitara, and you’re greeted by a plush dual-tone interior finished in Brown and Black. It features a new two-spoke steering wheel, adding a modern touch to the dashboard. In terms of tech, the SUV comes with a large 10.1-inch infotainment display and a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument panel.
The comfort level is elevated further with leatherette seating and a fixed glass roof, adding to the airy, premium cabin feel.
Features That Check Every Box
Maruti has packed the e-Vitara with features you’d usually find in higher-end vehicles. These include:
-
Ventilated front seats
-
A 10-way adjustable driver’s seat
-
Sliding and reclining rear seats
-
7 airbags for safety
-
Advanced Level-2 ADAS driver assistance
-
A top-down 360-degree camera
-
Wireless charging pad
-
Keyless entry
-
A ride-by-wire system
-
Customizable ambient lighting
It’s clear that Maruti wants this EV to be as luxurious as it is practical.
Battery Choices and Real-World Range
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will come with two battery pack options — a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh unit. The smaller one offers a WLTP range of 346 km, while the larger 61 kWh pack boosts that to a range of 428 km in the single-motor version. If you choose the dual-motor variant, expect a slightly lower range of 412 km due to the added performance.
Power and Performance Figures
Performance-wise, the 49 kWh single-motor variant delivers 142 bhp and 192.5 Nm of torque. Stepping up to the 61 kWh single-motor version gives you 172 bhp with the same 192.5 Nm torque.
For those who want all-wheel drive and a punchier drive, the dual-motor variant with the 61 kWh battery offers a combined output of 178 bhp and 300 Nm of torque.
With a bold design, a tech-rich interior, and competitive performance numbers, the e-Vitara is shaping up to be a strong contender in India’s fast-growing electric SUV segment. And for Maruti Suzuki, this could be the beginning of a whole new chapter.
