Lava seems to be gearing up for another smartphone launch in India. After introducing the Lava Shark 2 4G last month, the Noida-based brand is reportedly preparing its next addition to the Shark lineup — this time with 5G support. A new device, believed to be the Lava Shark Pro 5G, has appeared in the IMEI database, hinting that an official announcement may not be far away. The leak comes shortly after Lava unveiled the Agni 4, which features dual rear cameras and a 5,000mAh battery.
A New 5G Smartphone on the Horizon
According to leaks shared by well-known tipster Paras Guglani, Lava is working on the Shark Pro 5G for the Indian market. The device has been spotted with the model number LXX527 in the IMEI database, which typically signals that a launch is in progress.
Lava Shark Pro 5G Expected to Be a Premium Model
While Lava has yet to reveal any specifications, pricing, or a launch date, the “Pro” branding suggests that this model will sit at the higher end of the Shark series. If it does launch, it will become the fourth device in the lineup, following the Lava Shark 2, the Shark 5G, and the original Shark.
Recent Activity From Lava
The company has had a busy few weeks. It recently launched the Lava Agni 4, which comes with a smooth 120Hz display. At the same time, the broader tech ecosystem is receiving major software updates — for instance, Nothing OS 4.0 has rolled out with upgraded animations and an enhanced Extra Dark Mode.
Just last month, Lava expanded its budget portfolio with the Shark 2, priced at ₹6,999 for its single 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. The phone features a 6.75 inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and runs on an octa core Unisoc T7250 chipset, making it a competitive option in the entry level segment.
Competition in the Market
As Lava continues to grow its domestic lineup, global brands are also moving quickly. Oppo’s next budget smartphone has reportedly appeared on two Chinese certification sites, hinting at more competition on the way. In the premium space, Huawei is pushing battery innovation, with early claims suggesting the upcoming Mate 80 series could offer up to 14 days of battery life.
Lava Shark 2 Camera and Battery Details
Looking back at the recently launched Shark 2, the smartphone offers a 50 megapixel single rear camera for everyday photography and an 8 megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. It comes with an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance and packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
