KTM has introduced the all-new 160 Duke in India, priced at ₹1.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). That makes it almost ₹15,000 more expensive than its closest rival, the Yamaha MT-15 V2. But KTM is clearly betting on the bike’s extra power and richer feature set to justify the price.
Engine and Performance
Powering the 160 Duke is a downsized version of the 200 Duke’s engine. The 164.2cc, liquid-cooled motor delivers 18.74bhp at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. These figures are not only higher than the MT-15 V2 but also arrive earlier in the rev range, which should translate into better acceleration and a livelier ride. The motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox and comes with an assist and slipper clutch for smoother gear changes and reduced wheel lock-up under hard downshifts.
Chassis, Suspension, and Braking
The bike shares its underpinnings with the 200 Duke, built on a steel trellis frame. Suspension duties are handled by 43mm WP upside-down forks at the front and a preload-adjustable WP monoshock at the rear. Braking is managed by a 320mm disc up front and a 230mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS as standard for added safety.
Features and Technology
The KTM 160 Duke packs a strong list of features for its segment. Riders get full LED lighting, dual-channel ABS with an off-road mode, Bluetooth connectivity through the KTM Connect App, turn-by-turn navigation, and controls for calls and music. While it skips the premium TFT display used in higher-end Duke models, it comes with a well-laid-out LCD instrument cluster to keep costs competitive.
Colours and Availability
Buyers can choose from three striking colour options — Electronic Orange, Atlantic Blue, and Silver Metallic Matte — each adding to the Duke’s aggressive styling.
