As the digital world grows with each passing day, Reliance Jio’s home broadband business is setting new benchmarks across the industry. It is expanding at a rapid pace, leaving competitors behind and capturing the mass market with strong monthly subscriber growth. Recently, a data analysis shared by HSBC revealed Jio’s massive growth in its 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and UBR services.
Jio Home Broadband Growth
According to the report, JioAirFiber, the company’s wireless home internet service, has now become a major leader in the segment. Jio has added over 7.7 million home broadband users in CY2025 (year-to-date), taking its total subscriber base to 23.6 million as of October 2025. These numbers are huge, especially compared to Airtel, which added 3.2 million subscribers during the same period and now stands at 12.4 million users.
The report also highlights the boom in Jio’s AirFiber business, which includes both FWA and UBR services. The combined AirFiber base has reached 10.23 million subscribers, making it four times larger than Airtel’s FWA customer base as of October 2025. Jio’s UBR subscriber base alone surged to 2.84 million, showing strong adoption in areas where fibre connectivity is limited.
Jio’s Dominance in Market
HSBC also pointed out Jio’s strong monthly additions. In October 2025, the company added 2 million mobile subscribers, the highest in the industry. Airtel followed with 1.3 million, while Vodafone Idea continued to lose ground, dropping 2.1 million users in the same month. Jio’s mobile market share now stands at 41.4%, further cementing its dominance.
India’s home broadband penetration remains low compared to global standards, giving Jio a long runway to grow as more households come online. HSBC expects the country’s broadband market to grow nearly 3x to 114 million households by FY2030, with 5G FWA playing a major role.
Meanwhile, even as Jio’s business continues to shine, the company has seen a slight dip in its ARPU (Average Revenue Per User). This is because many new customers are opting for entry-level or lower-priced plans. However, Jio’s rapidly expanding subscriber base is helping balance out the short-term impact on ARPU.
