Excitement is growing around Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone, commonly referred to as the iPhone Fold. Analysts expect Apple to finally enter the flexible-display market next year. Rumors have been circulating for years, but a new report now gives a clearer picture of how big an impact this device could have once it launches.
Market Share and Revenue Forecast
Fresh data from market research firm IDC suggests that Apple’s foldable phone could shake up the market in a major way. The report predicts that the iPhone Fold could capture more than 22 percent of the global foldable smartphone market in 2026. Even more striking, it could make up around 34 percent of total revenue in this category. This high revenue share is tied to its expected premium price of around 2,400 dollars.
Competition and Category Growth
IDC also believes the foldable market will get even more competitive and more popular in the coming years. Apple’s entry will join new models like the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, along with continued innovation from Huawei and other brands. According to the report, foldable phones will keep growing faster than the overall smartphone market and could account for more than 10 percent of the total market value by 2029.
Expected Hardware Specifications
When it comes to hardware, early leaks suggest that Apple is working on a large and immersive display setup. The iPhone Fold may feature a 5.8 inch cover screen and a 7.58 inch internal folding display. There are also reports that Apple is paying special attention to battery performance for this new form factor. The device may include a battery even bigger than the one in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
