The wait for the iPhone 17 series is almost over, and leaks around pricing and features are coming in fast. One of the biggest talking points is the iPhone 17 Pro, which is tipped to see a price hike compared to the iPhone 16 Pro. The good news is that buyers may also get double the storage as standard. Other models in the lineup are also expected to cost more this year.
Price Hike Tipped for iPhone 17 Pro
Tipster Instant Digital recently shared on Weibo that the iPhone 17 Pro could be priced about $50 (roughly Rs. 4,400) higher than the current model. If this proves accurate, the base price would move to $1,049 (around Rs. 91,700) in the US.
In India, the iPhone 16 Pro price started at Rs. 119,900, so the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro could arrive at around Rs. 124,900 for the base variant.
Storage Doubled to 256GB
While the price hike might sting, the trade-off could be worth it. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to come with 256GB base storage, up from 128GB on the iPhone 16 Pro.
This change would put it in line with the Pro Max models, which made the switch starting with the iPhone 15 Pro Max in 2023. Last year’s iPhone 16 Pro Max also offered 256GB as standard.
Narrowing the Gap With Pro Max
Currently, there is a $200 (roughly Rs. 17,500) difference between the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. If the storage upgrade comes through, the iPhone 17 Pro could reduce that gap, offering better value compared to its bigger sibling.
Possible Hike Across the iPhone 17 Series
Leaks also suggest that the entire iPhone 17 series may see a $50 (roughly Rs. 4,400) increase. Analysts point to rising component costs and ongoing tensions from the US-China tariff war as possible reasons.
With the official iPhone 17 Pro launch just weeks away, it won’t be long before we know if Apple really pushes ahead with these higher prices.
