Hero MotoCorp just dropped a new version of its popular Xtreme 160R 4V, and this one is a big deal. It’s called the Xtreme 160R Combat Edition, and while it looks great, the real story is the high-end technology it’s bringing to the 160cc streetfighter class.
While the bike’s powerful engine and core design are the same, this new “Combat Edition” gets a unique look and some serious electronic upgrades that are set to make it a very exciting choice for riders.
A New Look and Smarter Tech
The first thing you’ll notice is the new paint job. It sports a striking grey-and-yellow theme, matching other “Combat” models from Hero like the Karizma XMR. It also gets a new headlight design that looks a lot like the one on its bigger brother, the Xtreme 250R.
But the biggest update is on the inside. This new model gets ride-by-wire technology. In simple terms, this “smart” throttle allows for new features you just don’t see on bikes this size. The Combat Edition now comes with cruise control and three selectable riding modes (Rain, Road, and Sport). All this new tech is controlled through a new full-colour LCD screen, also borrowed from the Xtreme 250R.
A First for its Class
Hero hasn’t told us the price for the Combat Edition just yet, but the new features are what have everyone talking. The new Xtreme 160R is now the first 160cc motorcycle in India to offer both ride-by-wire and cruise control.
Underneath all the new tech, it’s still the same Xtreme 160R 4V that people love. It’s powered by the same punchy 163.2cc, 4-valve, air-oil cooled engine. This motor is known for being a strong performer, putting out 16.66 hp of power and 14.6 Nm of torque, so it’ll still be a blast to ride.
