Google on Tuesday announced a significant overhaul of its Play Store, introducing a suite of features designed to create a more unified and feature-rich experience for mobile gamers. The initiative includes a new centralized hub called the “You” tab, a platform-wide gamer profile, and the integration of Gemini Live for in-game assistance.

At the core of the update is the new “You” tab, which will act as a central dashboard for players. According to a company blog post, this section will consolidate a user’s gaming statistics, rewards, subscriptions, and personalized recommendations. This will be complemented by a new platform-level gamer profile, which will track a player’s achievements and stats across all games and devices, providing a single, unified ranking.

To enhance player engagement, Google is introducing “Play Games Leagues,” a tournament-style system that will allow users to compete for rewards, including Play Points and in-game items. The inaugural league will feature the game Subway Surfers and is scheduled to commence on October 10.

Additionally, the company is launching “Play Games Sidekick,” an in-game overlay that provides stats and other data during gameplay. This overlay will also feature integrated access to Gemini Live, allowing players to receive AI-powered assistance without leaving their game. The Game Details pages within the store are also being updated to provide more information, including player tips and a community-driven question-and-answer section.
