Google is taking its virtual assistant a step closer to becoming truly personal. The company has rolled out a new AI Mode that can scan your Gmail and Google Photos to give answers tailored just for you. This makes the assistant not only smarter but also more aware of your digital life.
How Google’s AI Mode Works
This new feature works by allowing Google’s AI, powered by Gemini, to search through users’ emails, pictures and calendar events. It helps answer questions like “When is my flight?” or “Show me pictures from my last trip,” by extracting information already stored in users’ Google accounts. This ensures quick and relevant replies.
Last week, we introduced Personal Intelligence in the @GeminiApp. Today, we’re bringing that same helpful experience to AI Mode in Google Search 🔍

Why It Matters and What’s Next
This update demonstrates Google’s effort to integrate Gemini AI into Android devices. By combining Gmail, Photos and other Google apps, the assistant becomes more like a personal organiser as it helps users save time and effort.
However, the new feature has raised concerns about privacy. Experts believe users must stay cautious about how much personal data they allow the AI to use. Moreover, the AI Mode is expected to expand to more Pixel devices in the coming months. Google aims to integrate similar smart features across its ecosystem. This would offer a smooth experience between phones, apps and the web.
