Dodge is making a bold move for 2026 by ensuring every Durango in the lineup comes with a V-8 engine. The change reinforces the brand’s image as Stellantis’ performance powerhouse and delivers more excitement right from the base model.
More Power for the Durango GT
For the first time, the entry-level Durango GT will feature the brand’s 5.7-liter V-8, pumping out 360 horsepower — 65 more than the outgoing Pentastar V-6. Naturally, this bump in performance comes with a higher price tag, starting at $44,490, which is about $4,000 more than before.
R/T Steps Up to a 6.4-Liter V-8 392
The Durango R/T gets an even bigger upgrade, replacing the 5.7-liter V-8 with a 6.4-liter V-8 392 that produces 470 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. That’s an extra 115 hp over the previous setup. Dodge says pricing will start “under $50,000,” which is close to last year’s $49,995 starting point for the older engine.
SRT Hellcat: More Options, Lower Price
The top-tier SRT Hellcat keeps its supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 with a massive 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, but now comes with more personalisation. The updated Jailbreak trim offers six wheel designs, five interior colour choices, and more custom touches. Surprisingly, this range-topping model is $6,000 cheaper for 2026, starting at $81,990.
When You Can Order One
Orders for the 2026 Durango GT and SRT Hellcat open on August 13, with deliveries starting in the fourth quarter of the year. The R/T AWD will be available to order later in 2025.
