The Indian auto industry has achieved exponential growth in recent years. Top manufacturers are leaving no stone unturned in launching feature-loaded cars almost every single day. However, the customer mindset has clearly shifted. Buyers are now more inclined towards safety than fancy features. And with an ocean of options in the market, we have created a list of the top cars that come with a 5-star safety rating in crash tests.
Skoda Kylaq
Topping the list is the Skoda Kyliaq. Launched at the beginning of 2025, it gained instant popularity. According to official details, the mid-size SUV comes with impressive build quality and has secured a solid 5-star rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). During testing, the model was put through rigorous trials and managed to score 30.88/32 points for adult protection and 45/49 points for child safety.

The vehicle offers a wide list of safety features, including 6 airbags as standard, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), speed alert, and much more.
Kia Syros
Kia’s latest offering, the all-new Syros, has also made it to the elite 5-star club. Launched this year, the SUV achieved 30.21/32 points in adult safety and an impressive 44.42/49 in child safety under BNCAP testing. The model has been built using high-strength steel with additional protection integrated into the C-pillars and front bumper.

It also offers well-tuned driving dynamics and advanced safety features such as 6 airbags as standard across all variants, a 360-degree camera with dynamic guidelines, parking sensors, lane-keep assist, and three-point seat-belt reminders, among others.
Mahindra XEV 9
Ever since safety became a major concern for buyers, Mahindra has consistently stepped up its game. The brand is now packed with vehicles that excel in crash tests, and the XEV 9 is no exception. It has earned a perfect 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP for both adult and child occupant protection. The SUV secured 32/32 points for adults and 45/49 points for child safety.

2025 Tata Altroz
Finally, the 2025 Tata Altroz—one of the company’s hot-selling products. Tata has proudly highlighted its strong build quality in the competitive hatchback segment. It remains the only premium hatchback in India to hold a 5-star BNCAP rating. The car scored 29.65/32 in adult safety and 44.90/49 in child safety, making it a reliable choice for hatchback lovers.

Meanwhile, with growing concern over safety, most carmakers in India have already levelled up their approach. The government has set strict minimum safety parameters, ensuring customer well-being remains the top priority. From making 6 airbags mandatory to enforcing seat-belt reminders, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) and the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) are taking every possible step to make cars safer than ever.
