Bharti Airtel is slowly changing the way people see prepaid plans in India. After recently adding Perplexity AI Pro as a freebie, the telecom operator is now extending its tie-up with Apple to offer Apple Music for prepaid customers as well. Until now, this benefit was only available for postpaid and broadband users.
Apple Music Free for Six Months
Some Airtel prepaid customers have already started spotting the new offer inside the Airtel Thanks app. The banner mentions free access to Apple Music for up to six months. After the trial, the subscription will continue at ₹119 per month.
The interesting part is that this offer has been noticed even on non-unlimited 5G plans, which hints that it may not be restricted only to premium packs. While Bharti Airtel hasn’t officially confirmed the details yet, users can simply log into the Airtel Thanks app to check whether their account is eligible.
Airtel’s Growing Content Strategy
This move is part of Airtel’s content bundling strategy, where the company is partnering with both Indian and global platforms to give more value to its recharge packs. Earlier this year, Apple TV+ and Apple Music were added for postpaid and broadband subscribers. Now, the prepaid segment is also joining in.
In fact, Airtel has recently rolled out recharge plans that combine data and unlimited calls with OTT subscriptions to platforms such as Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, SonyLIV, Lionsgate Play, Hoichoi, SunNxt, and Aha.
Plans That Include OTT Benefits
-
The ₹279 prepaid plan offers one month of validity along with subscriptions to Netflix Basic, Zee5, Disney+ Hotstar, and Airtel Xstream Play Premium. Airtel claims the total value of these bundled services comes to about ₹750. A version of this pack is also available as a “content-only” recharge, which includes the same OTT platforms plus 1GB of data.
-
For those who use more data, the ₹598 plan comes with unlimited 5G data, unlimited calling, and OTT subscriptions for 28 days.
-
On the higher side, the ₹1,729 recharge plan gives unlimited 5G data and calls for 84 days, again bundled with the same set of OTT services.
Perplexity AI Pro Partnership
Entertainment isn’t the only area where Airtel is focusing. In July 2025, the company partnered with Perplexity AI to provide complimentary access to Perplexity AI Pro for all users. This premium AI tool, valued at nearly ₹17,000 a year, offers advanced models, file uploads, image generation, and more. By including Perplexity AI Pro, Airtel is bringing productivity tools to its customers alongside music and OTT entertainment.
Why This Matters for Prepaid Customers
For many prepaid users, entertainment services usually come in the form of free trials or ad-supported versions. Getting Apple Music for six months at no cost is a solid deal and could encourage more people to try the platform. If they like it, some may continue as paying subscribers even after the trial ends.
For now, the best way to check eligibility is by logging into the Airtel Thanks app. With a mix of Apple Music, OTT bundles, and Perplexity AI Pro, Bharti Airtel seems set on making its prepaid plans more than just talk-time and data.
