Hyundai India has just launched the 2024 facelifted Alcazar. This SUV comes with a major design change and also gets a plethora of brand-new features. This updated model of the Alcazar not only looks attractive but also establishes itself as one of the better 7-seater SUVs in the market with its long list of comfort and convenience features.

However, this segment already has many lucrative options, one such car is the Mahindra XUV 700. It might confuse many people to decide which of these two is the best bet for their hard-earned money.

Today, we will compare all the features and other crucial aspects of these 7-seater SUVs, so that it is easier for anyone to pick one for themselves.

Exterior Design

The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar has just launched with a brand new avatar. The facelifted version looks very similar to its younger sibling Creta from some angles, but overall, the SUV has a unique identity of its own which stands out.

The Mahindra XUV 700, on the other hand, has been around for almost three years now and it keeps getting minor updates from time to time which makes it appear fresh even today.

Unlike the Alcazar, the XUV 700’s design and looks are distinctive and it does not look similar to any other car on the market.

In terms of appearance and road presence, the XUV is slightly better because of its bigger dimensions. However, the Alcazar too, has a bold road presence and the new front fascia looks bold.

Interior and Features

The interior of both SUVs is loaded with modern and luxurious features, plus both have an appealing cabin design.

Both three-row SUVs get connected screens - one for the infotainment and the other for instrumentation. The screen size is exactly the same (10.25-inch) on both cars and they get all the basic features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. 11

The XUV 700 gets a Sony-branded surround sound system, whereas the 2024 Alcazar gets a Bose-branded surround sound system.

The sound quality is a subjective thing so one should visit showrooms and check out both the cars back to back for better understanding.

Both SUVs can be had in either a six-seater configuration with captain seats in the second row or a seven-seater configuration (bench).

Performance

Performance is also an important aspect of the car, especially for a car with seven people on board. Both the cars are available with diesel and petrol options.

The Alcazar has a 1.5-litre diesel engine and 1.5-litre turbo petrol which churn out 114hp/250Nm and 158hp/258Nm, respectively.

The XUV 700 is equipped with a 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 2.0-litre petrol engine. They churn out 182hp/450Nm and 197hp/380Nm, respectively.

Now, it is clearly evident that XUV has much bigger displacement on offer and that’s why its power figures are also significantly higher than the Alcazar.

Safety

On a car hunt, an important thing to note is the safety of the cars, especially the build quality.

Both cars, the Mahindra XUV 700 and the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar are equipped with all the basic safety features such as ABS, EBD, ESP, ESC, and a Level- 2 ADAS suite.

The Alcazar has 6 airbags whereas the XUV 700 has 7 airbags. The Mahindra XUV 700 has been awarded 5 out of 5 stars by the Global NCAP, while the Hyundai Alcazar scored 3 out of 5 stars which is average, but it’s nowhere close to the XUV 700, in terms of safety.

So, if safety is your utmost priority then you know which car to pick.

Conclusion

The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar starts at Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and the XUV 700 starts at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). While both these cars go neck-to-neck in terms of features and comfort, but, when it comes to performance, the XUV 700 has a clear edge.
