Ather Energy used the stage at the Ather Community Day 2025 to pull the covers off its all-new EL platform. This next-generation EV architecture has been built with scalability and cost optimisation in mind, and it will form the base for a whole new family of Ather scooters. The lineup will eventually include a family scooter, a larger maxi-scooter, and even a sporty performance EV. To give a taste of what’s coming, Ather also revealed the Ather EL01 Concept, which offers a glimpse at its next-gen family scooter.
A Fresh Architecture from the Ground Up
Unlike past iterations, the EL platform has been designed completely from scratch. It brings with it a scalable chassis, a new powertrain, and a re-engineered software stack. According to the company, this platform will make scooters easier to build, reduce service frequency, and even cut periodic maintenance time in half.
Technology upgrades play a big role too. The new setup includes the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) for improved safety and a Charge Drive Controller, which cleverly merges the on-board charger with the motor controller. This means riders won’t need to carry a separate portable charger anymore.
AtherStack 7.0 – A Major Software Leap
Alongside hardware, Ather also introduced AtherStack 7.0, its biggest software update so far. The system now supports voice-based interaction with AI trained for Indian dialects, making commands feel more natural.
On the safety front, riders will benefit from Crash Alerts and Pothole Alerts, while theft-protection gets a boost with features like ParkSafe and LockSafe. The best part — AtherStack 7.0 is compatible with older scooters too and will roll out via an OTA update.
Rider-Centric Features
Ather’s engineers have added a unique touch with Infinite Cruise, a custom cruise control system tailored for Indian roads. It offers three modes — CityCruise, Hill Control, and Crawl Control — giving riders flexibility whether they’re in traffic, on inclines, or just rolling along slowly.
Fast charging has also taken a big step forward. The next-gen charging system promises twice as fast charging speeds, delivering up to 30km of range in just 10 minutes. That could make a huge difference for everyday usability.
Production and Launch Plans
All scooters based on the EL platform will be built at Ather’s Sambhaji Nagar factory in Maharashtra. The very first production model is expected to hit the market around the festive period next year, marking the start of a new chapter for the company.
