ASUS seems all set to make headlines at Gamescom 2025, with its upcoming handheld console, the ROG Xbox Ally, already spotted on the Amazon US website before the official reveal. Although the listing was quickly taken down, it gave away some important details about the device. The global gaming expo is scheduled to take place in Germany from August 20 to 24, with ASUS holding a preview showcase on August 19.
Leaked Specifications of the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally
The Amazon listing highlighted a white variant of the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally, carrying the tagline “#playALLYourgames.” The console is expected to feature a 7-inch Full HD touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 7ms response time, and up to 500 nits brightness, making it suitable for smooth and vibrant gameplay.
Inside, the handheld will run on AMD’s Ryzen Z2 A processor, equipped with Zen 5 cores and RDNA 3.5 graphics for improved performance and visuals. It will be paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM clocked at 6400MHz, along with 512GB PCIe Gen 4 M.2 storage, expandable for users who need extra space.
Gaming Software and Features
The ROG Xbox Ally will ship with Windows 11 Home, providing access not only to Xbox Full Screen mode but also the entire PC game library. It will also include Armoury Crate SE integrated with the Xbox Game Bar, offering customization and performance tools directly in the system.
The console is said to come with a 60Whr battery, while its design borrows elements from Xbox Wireless Controllers, including contoured grips to make handheld sessions more comfortable.
Expected Pricing
ASUS has not yet revealed the official pricing for the US, but earlier leaks suggest the ROG Xbox Ally may start at around EUR 599 in Europe. A premium model, the ROG Xbox Ally X, is also expected, with a higher price tag of about EUR 899.
A New ROG Xbox Controller in the Works
Along with the handheld, ASUS has teased a brand-new ROG Xbox controller. A short teaser video showed the accessory with a central Xbox button, a glowing ROG logo, four rear buttons, and an audio jack.
However, it is still unclear whether this controller will be a wired option like the ROG Raikiri, or a wireless model like the Raikiri Pro, which only connects to Xbox consoles through USB.
The company has confirmed that the ROG Xbox controller will be introduced at Gamescom 2025. A broader lineup of ASUS products will be revealed on August 19, followed by a deep dive into the ROG Xbox Ally on August 20.
