Qualcomm just launched two new mobile chips called Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 at an event in New Delhi. These new processors are for mid-range and budget phones. They want to bring premium features to people in India. The company held this event on Thursday to show how brands like Redmi, Realme, Oppo, and Honor will use these chips soon. One big highlight is the Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI which helps apps open faster and stops the screen from lagging.
New Chips for Better Phones
Honestly, I think the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is the real star here because it brings massive camera power. This chip uses a 4nm process which makes it very power-friendly so your battery lasts longer throughout the day.
Features of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5
It has eight cores. Four cores run at 2.6GHz for heavy tasks and four run at 2.0GHz for saving power during normal use. This setup makes apps launch 20 percent faster than the previous models we saw last year. If you love taking photos at night, it has AI Night Vision to make dark shots look much clearer. For gamers, Qualcomm added Game Super Resolution to keep the graphics sharp without heating up the device too much. You also get Wi-Fi 7 and 5G speeds up to 2.8Gbps which is quite fast for Indian networks.
Wait, before we get into the connectivity, you should know about the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 for cheaper phones. I was surprised to hear that the graphics performance is 77 percent better than before. This chip allows 90fps gaming for the first time in this series, which is a big win for budget gamers. It supports 108-megapixel cameras and screens with 144Hz refresh rates.
Staying Connected on Two Networks
Actually, the coolest part is the 5G Dual SIM Dual Active support. You can use two 5G SIM cards at the same time without one cutting off the other. Qualcomm did not give us the exact dates for the new phones, but Redmi and Realme will likely be the first ones to sell them.
