It looks like Apple is going all-in on sleek design with its upcoming slim iPhone – the iPhone 17 Air. A new leak from tipster Majin Bu has given us an early look at what to expect, especially when it comes to the battery and internal design. If you’re someone who loves a thin, lightweight phone with a premium feel, the iPhone 17 Air might be worth waiting for.
Slim Battery, Smarter Build
According to Majin Bu, the iPhone 17 Air will pack a 2,900mAh battery, designed with a compact and refined design. This isn’t just about size — Apple is aiming for that clean Air aesthetic, which means slimming down the device without compromising on efficiency.
Interestingly, much like the iPhone 16 Pro, this model’s battery might be enclosed in a steel case. That helps with heat dissipation and boosts battery density — great news for anyone who wants a slim phone that doesn’t overheat or run out of juice too quickly.
The leak even includes images of an L-shaped design for the battery, made to fit a reduced logic board. And to make repairs easier, Apple is also reportedly introducing new battery adhesives, so swapping the battery might not be such a hassle anymore.
Lighter Frame, Bigger Screen
On the design front, analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International says the iPhone 17 Air could feature a lightweight Aluminum body — unlike the heavier titanium Pro models. This would help keep the phone slim and feather-light in your hand.
You’re also likely to get a 6.6-inch display, so while the phone stays slim, you won’t have to compromise on screen size for entertainment or productivity.
Power Under the Hood
Performance-wise, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be powered by a 3 nanometer A19 chipset, similar to the A18 Pro found in the iPhone 16 Pro models. It’ll reportedly come with 8GB of RAM, which should be more than enough for multitasking, gaming, or creative apps.
Camera and Face ID
In terms of cameras, Apple might take a minimalist approach here. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a single camera on the back with a 48MP sensor, which still packs plenty of punch. For selfies and video calls, a 24MP camera is tipped to be on the front, along with Face ID support for secure unlocking.
iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence
On the software side, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to come with iOS 26, featuring the all-new Liquid Glass Interface. Apple is also said to be integrating more Apple Intelligence features into this phone, so we can expect smarter tools and a more intuitive experience.
