Qualcomm has just lifted the curtain on its latest processor, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, and it’s designed to give budget-friendly Android phones a serious upgrade. The company says the new chip is 36% faster for everyday tasks and offers a huge 59% jump in graphics performance compared to its predecessor.
In simple terms, this processor could make even affordable phones feel smoother, faster, and more capable—while adding support for features usually found in premium devices, like 144Hz displays, 200MP cameras, and Wi-Fi 6E.
A Big Boost in Power
The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 (model SM6435-AA) is built on an advanced 4nm process, which is impressive for a budget chipset. It uses an octa-core setup with two kinds of cores:
-
Four high-performance cores (up to 2.4GHz) for apps, games, and heavy tasks
-
Four efficiency cores (up to 1.8GHz) for lighter background processes to save power
This smart design is what gives the Gen 4 its big performance leap over the Gen 3, which only launched earlier this year.
Smoother Gaming and Better Photos
For gamers, the 59% GPU improvement will be a welcome change. The upgraded Adreno GPU supports HDR gaming, 10-bit color depth, and smoother visuals, so mobile gaming should look and feel much better.
The chip also plays nicely with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, which means apps will load faster and multitasking will be smoother.
On the camera front, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 can handle up to a 200MP single sensor or dual 16MP cameras, plus it has built-in noise reduction hardware. This should make photos sharper, clearer, and especially better in low light conditions.
Modern Connectivity Built-In
Qualcomm didn’t stop at speed and graphics. The new processor also brings modern connectivity features to cheaper phones, including 5G mmWave, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.4.
It also has lane-level accurate GPS, supporting all major global satellite systems, including India’s NavIC. That means better accuracy for maps and navigation. On top of that, it supports Quick Charge 4+ for fast charging and advanced 3D Sonic fingerprint sensors for stronger security.
What This Means for You
With the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, upcoming budget and mid-range phones could feel far more premium. Expect faster performance, smoother gaming, cleaner photos, and better connectivity—all without needing to pay flagship prices.
