Sony has expanded its popular 1000X series with the launch of the WH-1000XM6 in India. These new wireless noise-cancelling headphones bring real-time adaptive noise cancellation, a refreshed design, and improved sound processing—aimed at commuters, professionals, frequent fliers, and anyone who wants premium audio on the go.
Smarter Noise Cancellation, More Mics
The WH-1000XM6 runs on Sony’s latest HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3, which is faster than the chip inside the XM5. It also packs 12 microphones (up from 8 on the XM5) to detect and block out external noise more effectively. The Adaptive NC Optimizer automatically adjusts cancellation levels depending on your surroundings—even air pressure during flights.
Refined Comfort and Design
Sony has redesigned the headband with vegan leather and wider padding to reduce pressure during long listening sessions. The stretchable earpads improve comfort, while a new metal injection folding mechanism makes the headphones sturdier. The case now uses magnets, so it snaps shut quickly.
Audio Upgrades and Features
For sound, the XM6 uses a carbon fibre composite dome driver and a reworked voice coil structure. It supports Hi-Res Audio both wired and wireless via LDAC, while DSEE Extreme (Edge-AI) upscales compressed tracks for better clarity.
The headphones also support 360 Reality Audio Upmix, turning stereo tracks into spatial sound, and feature a 10-band EQ plus gaming and movie sound effects through the Sony | Sound Connect app.
Better Calls and Gaming
A six-microphone AI beamforming system makes calls clearer by isolating your voice while cutting background noise. The WH-1000XM6 also supports LE Audio with Auracast, multipoint connectivity, and low-latency audio for gaming.
Battery Life and Fast Charging
Battery life remains one of Sony’s strong points. A three-minute quick charge delivers up to three hours of playback, and you can even listen while charging over USB.
Price and Availability in India
The Sony WH-1000XM6 will be available in Black, Platinum Silver, and Midnight Blue. Sales begin on 29 September 2025 at a best buy price of ₹39,990 via Sony Centres, select Croma and Reliance stores, ShopatSC.com, and Amazon.
